Family Law Annual Conference 2023

We are delighted to invite you to join us 8.30am - 4.00pm on 26th September 2023 for our Family Law Annual Conference!

Our conference will be held at the Hilton Hotel, Neville Street, Leeds, LS1 4BX. Please find brochure attached.

Places cost £90pp and the day holds 6 CPD points worth of training. Please book your place here:  https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/bhcfam2023

We have a packed line up, including a number of guest speakers, who will be tackling topical issues and sharing tips as to how to address these issues in practice.

The day will run with two simultaneous itineraries, one with a focus on financial remedy work and the other on children law, both public and private and domestic abuse. Delegates may choose which sessions they wish to attend throughout the day and therefore swap between rooms.

Both itineraries will see the day begin with a session on case management as the family team and delegates work through a case study which will throw up a number of topics for consideration. For financial remedy this will include third party interests and section 37 applications, crypto assets, and conduct. For our children session, the topics will include expert instruction, vulnerable witnesses and special measures, and fact finding hearings.

There will also be a short session for all delegates on the ever important issue of transparency, and what to do if a member of the press attends your hearing.

As the day progresses we will delve deeper into more substantive areas of practice.

Our finance topics across the day will include:

-          Case management best practice

-          Transparency

-          ADR

-          Third party interests and section 37 applications

-          Crypto assets

-          Conduct

-          Pensions (with a PODE guest speaker)

-          Matrimonial and non-matrimonial property

-          Enforcement

Our children and domestic abuse itinerary will cover:

-          Family Law Act 1996 applications best practice

-          Case management best practice: private law

-          A view from the ‘local’ Bench, with guest members of the local judiciary

-          Transparency

-          Vulnerable witnesses and special measures

-          Fact finding hearings

-          Parental alienation & expert instruction

-          Immigration issues in care proceedings

-          Mental capacity and learning disability in care proceedings

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who completed our feedback form last year. We have taken all suggestions on board and have created a packed day full of different training that we hope you find informative.

See you then!
