Congratulations to Clare Bate who was the winner of Broadway House Chambers’ Plea in Mitigation Competition 2017.
Clare was one of 24 BPTC students from BPP law school in Leeds to enter our competition this year. Following an impressive first round in February, four students made it into the final at Bradford Crown Court on 22nd March 2017. The students had to mitigate on behalf of a Defendant who was in breach of his SOPO and notification requirements.
Many thanks to HHJ Thomas QC for once again supporting the competition and judging the final round. Clare Bate impressed the learned Judge with her clearly structured mitigation and able submissions. Well done too to the other three finalists, Gareth Hutton, Lorna Robertson and Verity Quaite.
