Welcome to our New Pupils

Broadway House Chambers are delighted to welcome two new pupils who begin their pupillage from 4th January 2021.
Emily Hughes is undertaking a Civil Pupillage under the supervision of Kerry Barker. Emily has been based in Leeds throughout her studies and working life. After being called to the bar in 2014, Emily built six years of independent Civil advocacy experience as a County Court Advocate. Emily also filled a number of other positions including Guest Lecturer at Leeds Beckett and Events Officer for the Leeds Junior Lawyers Division. Emily also worked at a law firm in Los Angeles during a summer placement.
Ella Embleton is undertaking a Criminal Pupillage under the supervision of Clare Walsh. Ella was called to the Bar in 2019 after successful completion of the BPTC, achieving ‘Very Competent’. Ella previously worked as a Paralegal for the General Medical Council, gaining experience in medical regulatory law, predominantly handling medical experts and drafting allegations. Ella has also spent time as a teaching volunteer in India, teaching basic literacy and maths skills to street children.
