Lauren Smith successfully appeals a sentence before the Court of Appeal

The appeal panel - led by LJ Dingemans - thanked Lauren for her 'very helpful' written submissions on behalf of the appellant and agreed that the sentence imposed at Leeds Crown Court was manifestly excessive. 

The court quashed the sentence of 27 months' imprisonment for one of 16 months, meaning the appellant has now served his sentence and will be released.
