Wellbeing
Broadway House Chambers values and understands the significant importance of the wellbeing for our barristers, pupils and staff.
Wellbeing doesn’t just cover mental health but everything in an individual’s life that has an effect upon them; physical health, finances, work, home-life, family and so on. In order for one to have positive wellbeing all of these aspects need to be positive or well balanced.
We aim to provide the tools and support to help promote and encourage positive wellbeing, alongside an open attitude to allowing our people to feel they can discuss any issues they are experiencing. In this way, it is hoped we can help make an impact in dealing with any negative influences.
For our staff we provide private access to a 24/7 remote GP, mental health support, physiotherapy and 24/7 wellbeing confidential helplines. We also help with financial cover towards eye tests and subsequently any glasses if they are required. We supply a payday breakfast to thank the staff each month for their hard work. Alongside this we regularly encourage social interactions between everyone to retain and develop strong bonds with one another.
We have Mental Health First Aiders in Chambers who check on everyone and are available at all times to discuss the wellbeing of any of our barristers, pupils and staff. This team has also created our Wellbeing Policy which has been circulated amongst everyone to highlight the importance of this topic to us.
Promoting and encouraging positive wellbeing can result in individuals performing at a capacity and pace that is right for them but at the same time retaining, or even improving, their performance.
We hope by doing all of this and more that Broadway House Chambers will have a positive impact and create a happy environment to work in.
