Syam Soni achieves acquittal in proceedings brought by Trading Standards under the Trademarks Act

Syam represented a man charged with various allegations concerning the possession and supply of counterfeit tobacco products, which were said to constitute an infringement of various aspects of trademark legislation.

The proceedings were prosecuted by the regional Trading Standards, who claimed that the provision of the counterfeit items constituted a serious public health risk.

At trial, Syam made a successful application to adduce the bad character of another, who had been involved in similar criminality.

Syam’s client was unanimously acquitted after trial.

Syam was instructed and assisted by Chris Finnegan and Arshad Mahmood of Drummond Solicitors.

Syam has a wealth of experience in criminal and regulatory matters, and is instructed nationally to defend those accused of serious criminality.
