Gerald Hendron & Paul Canfield Successfully Prosecute 19 Defendants for Separate Conspiracies to Pervert the Course of Justice

R V KY and others concluded (4/12/2024) Bradford Crown Court

Gerald Hendron led Paul Canfield in successfully prosecuting 19 defendants of 24 defendants for separate conspiracies to Pervert the Course of Justice before The Recorder of Bradford.

The cases involved the first defendant, KY, running a Notice of Intended Prosecution or ‘NIP farm’ by advertising a scheme to members of the public to evade penalty points.

The remaining defendants were customers of the scheme, whereby it was agreed that drivers of their vehicles would evade liability for penalty points arising from activating speed cameras.

The case was a long and protracted prosecution which required two trials to accommodate the number of defendants who sought to contest the allegations.

17 of the 19 defendants received immediate custodial sentences as a deterrent to others.
